The Nose Knows About COVID-19: Public Outreach Event

Organized in collaboration with members of the
Association for Chemoreception Sciences (AChemS), the European Chemoreception Research Organization (ECRO) and the Japanese Association for the Study of Taste and Smell (JASTS).
COVID-19 has been associated with sudden onset of smell and taste loss worldwide. Virtually join smell and taste researchers and clinicians to get to know these senses better.
Who can participate? English, Spanish, Italian, French and Japanese speakers from 5 to 99+ years old
What do I need? Internet connection, a fruit candy, a mint gum, minty toothpaste, paper and pencil.

COVID-19: A Spotlight on the Chemical Senses

Open to the Public: Smell and taste loss represent the main neurological manifestation of COVID-19, the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. In this symposium, we will characterize smell and taste disorders in COVID-19 and other respiratory disorders, provide mechanistic insights on the COVID-19-anosmia (smell loss) and dysgeusia (taste distortions), as well as explore cutting edge research on therapeutic strategies for COVID-19.
